Volleyball was a new sport this year for Gideon and Isaac. Their school had a club team and they both wanted to try it out. They LOVED it. We Loved it. The boys learned and grew throughout the season. Both of them had said this may be their favorite sport.
Isaac did such a great job as outside hitter. He never came out of the game. When he rotated back row at the beginning of the season he was always nervoud. By the end of the season he was so natural at back row AND outside hitter. I may be a little bias but I feel like Isaac really carried his team along throughout the season. He had his last games last Tuesday and he did amazing!
There were three teams for the school. White team (The freshmen team that Isaac played on), Red, and then Black. Gideon started practicing with the red team which was comparable to the JV team. By the first game of the season Gideon had been pulled up to the black team (highest level). He really grew this season as middle blocker. The last games of the season determined whether or not the team would go to state. For the first time in weeks Gideon didn't start that game. It really got to him. He was mad and very sad. He didn't understand. He had a good talk with the coach who told him to give more energy to help the team. The next game he started and did wonderful. They won and made it to the next round. It wa sa very intense game. They won the first set. The second set they were losing by quite a bit. The school custodians told the ref they needed to hurry and end the school alarms were going off soon. The coaches decided to finish second set as is and move on to third set. With minutes left before the alarm the score was 10-10 and the ref announced next point wins. The other team served, there was a great pass to setter, and then Gideon got the set and pouded to the opponets court. CEDAR VALLEY with the win. It was awesome. Two days later the coach announced Gideon made the All Star honorable mention group for the state of Utah. What an amazing accomplishment.
I'm so happy for both of my boys. It was a joy watching them find a new passion and excell in it. Can't wait for Gideon to go to state and Isaac to play again.
