Throw Her Away

I know that's the wierdest title to a post but you'll see why. On Saturday we went to a luau/benefit concert that my in-laws helped put on. Koki was asked to be the MC for the event. He always does such a good job. One of the things Koki was asked to do was an audience participation Haka . We think it's played out but there are always people that have never seen it before so it's still funny. If you've never seen him do it he picks people from the audience and has them follow along to a chant with some occasional hand and foot movements. No part of the dance is suppose to be serious. These are the words:

"Hands come down slaping slapping, Foot comes down stomping stomping, Hands come up one above the other, If you have a girlfriend hold her tight, If she spends your money throw her away..."

As always there were people who never saw this before and thought it was the funniest thing. Then there was my son Gideon who seemed troubled about the Haka the whole night. Here's the conversation we had on the way home...

Gideon: " Mom, why did dad say he was going to throw his girlfriend in the trash?"
Me: "Oh, it was just a joke son."
****silence silence silence*****
Gideon: "I didn't like that, it really made me sad."
Me: "Daddy didn't mean it son. It was just for the dance."

Here's what I learned from this #1 Be careful what you say around a four year old and #2 Don't say anything mean about their mom either!!! You gotta love that :)

The luau benefit sounded like so much fun. We already had plans that night but we were definitely tempted . . . I hope it was a great success.

That's the best part about having little boys...they LOVE their mommas and will defend them to the death! Love it!
